Choosy-Chicks-Choose-Chicklets Blog Hop

Hosted by the lovely Rita of Jewel School Friends.

I was completely thrilled to be one of the lucky participants for this challenge.  I am a huge fan of Sue of Suebeads.  She is not only a friend but a very talented artist.  And lets face it these chicklet beads are so fun and happy who wouldn't be excited?

Well I wanted something special to showcase this little treasure so it sat and sat until it started talking.  I know you have heard me say this before but it is so true for me.  I put so many options together but unless the bead is chatting up a storm it just doesn't fit.  So like I said it sat and sat.  In fact it sat until Friday.  I had a few other pieces to complete while I was waiting for it to get chatty.  Darn thing just wouldn't speak I tell ya.

So I had to finish up a necklace from the Art Jewelry Elements Component of the Month that Linda had hosted because I finally knew the right way to clasp it.

Dont you know that little chicklet began screaming at me!  I knew just what to do!

I loved how this turned out and to be honest since I am going to BeadFest in August I am getting a whole strand to play with because I can see a bracelet full of them.

Now you all should know I have to remake this.  And this is why...

Did you see that thread!!!!!!  You should have heard the words when I found it!!!  (Well probably not cuz some of you think I am too nice to say what came out of my mouth)

I will remake it and wear it because it is just so precious!  Now I want you to go check out what everyone else made with theirs!!!  I am so excited to hop!

Art Jewelry Elements Component of the month Reveal - Sue Beads

I LOVE SUE'S CABS!!!!!

This is what she offered up this month for us to play with.

Now I would have also loved some chicklets but I can not resist the chance to play with her cabs!!!!  If you saw my last post I was part of the Waxed Linen Blog hop and now I need linen and chicklets!

So on with my creation.  I should tell you that I had a little health hiccup earlier this month just when Sue's cab arrived and I needed to keep my mind off the waiting and itching.  LOL  I also new from the moment I picked my cab (actually she made one special for me....Thanks for that!) what I wanted to do.  That does not happen very often.  Here is where the inspiration came from.

I loved making the Dutch Spiral with twins so much I new it would make a good necklace!

And I embroidered the pendant with twins too!!!

I was able to wear this on Mothers' Day to the Rochester Lilac Festival and got a few comments.

Sorry this post is so short I am working through a migraine but that does not take away the love I have for this necklace that is now a cherished part of my collection!!!  Please check out what everyone else choose and made I can not wait!!!

Art Jewelry Elements Component of the Month Reveal - Lesley's turn

It is time for another reveal.  I am so excited to tell you all about my journey on this one.

Here is what Lesley of TheaElements gave us to choose from.
I have to tell you lately I have realized that I do so much better with surprises on a general basis.  I am so inspired when it arrives.  I have been trying to use my stash as much as possible and I have a gorgeous stash of artbeads to work with but it seems that it is much harder to pick a component and then start picking beads.  I cant seem to choose which component to start with.  One of the other reasons I have discovered I work better with surprises that are part of challenges is that I AM challenged to make what I have on hand work.  That is so much fun for me.

As per my usual I forgot to take a picture of the component before I began to work with it.  I have to get better at remembering to do that.

So I had a bit of extra fun and challenge with this one.  Those of you who read my blog know I love twin beads by Preciosa.  They just speak to me.  So I wanted to do something a bit different and try my hand at a pattern that I have been looking at and admiring for quite a while.

Jill of Jill Wiseman Designs put out a YouTube video of a Dutch Spiral.  I have loved the look of it for some time but just haven't gotten around to playing with it.  I loved her "sticky uppy bead" rule and this cinched it for me.

Because of the beauty of the ammonite I wanted to mimic the spiral so here is what I created!

It was a bit of a bugger for me to use the clasp as it was and not just use it as a button but I really love copper and purple together.  Let me know what you think and be sure to pop over and visit everyone else to see what they have done with theirs.

My Czech Beads Competition

http://preciosa-ornela.com/myczechbeads/index.php/en/

For any of you that follow me you know I am totally and completely addicted to Preciosa Twin beads.  They have a new competition every month for anyone who loves their beads with the possibility of winning 1000 grams of beads.  Click on the logo above for more information.

Let me repeat 1000 grams of amazing Preciosa beads!!!!

They have a theme each month and will pick 4 winners each month.  You can enter as many times as you wish.

April is Easter/Spring theme so what better piece to enter than the one I just finished in the Spring Fever Challenge I just did.

I love finding ways to incorporate twins in all sorts of stitches.  They have the best texture and organic look that I like to design.  In fact I have posted two tutorials using them on the Art Jewelry Elements blog.  One using twins in a Russian spiral you can see here and another using a cubic right angle weave variation you can see here.

Get yourself some twins and play!!

Spring Fever Blog Hop

Welcome to.....

Hosted by the amazing Lesley of TheaElements, Caroline of BlueberriBeads because frankly we have all had enough of this long winter and needed some color!! Here is what they put together.

Lesley made all these and I would have loved all any of these sets.

Caroline rocked these bird sets in fact she and I may have to chat because I have always wanted to make an necklace with the theme of Bob Marley's 3 Little birds.
They also got together with Claire of Smitten Beads who added sari silks.
I have never worked with fiber and I was more than a bit nervous but look at the colors!!!
So you know I needed some color and since I am a stalker fan of both Lesley and Caroline I through my name in and crossed all fingers and toes and waited.  Obviously we would not be here if I didn't get picked to play but I had to show you my excitement. Then there was the waiting......which is a bit longer coming from the UK but well worth the wait!!!!!

Here is what I received.

I was more than happy!!!  But where to start? Actually I did have an idea before the beads actually came.  If you know me you know I try to incorporate twins in everything.  Those little beads and I are very happy to play together I was just hoping I had the right color and when this pendant arrived I new I did.  Now I will also tell you this color scheme scared the hell out of me.  I have never thought of yellow and purple together but Lesley, Caroline and Claire did it so I gave it a go.

Now I should remember to take pictures of the beads when I first pair them but I always seem to be in the creative mode when inspired like this so I forget.  I knew I wanted to bead around the fiber so that it would show because frankly it is gorgeous!!!!  I have never ever purchased fiber and always always turned away from anywhere it was displayed but that had changed.  Someday I want all of the gorgeous colors in Claire's shop!!!

So what did I do?  Well I concocted a netting with the twins that worked perfectly with the fiber peeking through.

I was going to have just the chain and pendant and make something different for the birds but they all wanted to play so I had fun putting one of Caroline's bird's on Lesley's bead that kinda looked like a nest.  On the other side it looks like a bird sitting on an egg (let's not think that she actually laid it okay because that would really have hurt)

How to finish it?  I sort of ran out of the twins ( I hate when that happens I should have an unlimited supply of all of the twins ya know) so it was kind of decided for me that I would need to have some of the fiber sticking out but I really love it.  I love the softness.

Thank you does not even cover how happy I am that I was able to play along.

LADIES YOU ALL ROCK!!!

Now lets all go see what everyone else created shall we?

October AJE Component of the Month Reveal

I love this part of the month!  It is time to reveal what we all did with the Art Jewelry Elements Component of the Month.

This month it was Kristi's turn and boy she did some amazing ammonite components for us to play with.

I have truly coveted everything Kristi has made you should see my wish list so you know how excited I was to play with this one.

I knew what I wanted to do but of course the beads need to cooperate with me and at first it was not going well. I wanted to mimic the ammonite with twins but what I was trying didn't want to work and then all the sudden it happened.

I have to tell you I am in love with this piece.  I love making links with seeds and using the twins gave me at least some of the pattern in Kristi's piece.  I actually finished this piece last night.  The clasp is from MiShel Designs who makes the coolest clasps.  AND  those jump rings were actually made by my daughter!

Hop around to see what everyone else has made!!!

I AM a Suburban Girl!

Yes Yes Yes I am!!!  I love everything I have and have used that has been created by the amazing, talented, twisted (you all know it is true) sweet, generous and hysterical Diana of Suburban Girl Studio! From the very first time I touched one of these beads I was hooked!  And since I have a nice little stash of them I have to tell you when ever I look to make a new project I go there first.  They have their own little box you know.  Now even when I am shopping for seeds I check to make sure I have the right colors for them.  And now I have 2 go to pieces that match just about anything I have to give me that extra pick me up.

This time around Diana gave me a special piece.  A cabochon.  Yep special for me or a challenge which ever I love love love it.
Here is Past Peak.......

Here is the close up of the pendant.....

Now I have to tell you the coolest surprise was also included this month. An amazing wire clasp made by our very own Michelle of Mishel Designs.  So now I am also totally in love with Michelle's work too!  This clasp was awesome to work with!!!  I want MORE!!!

Oh and I did reveal this the other day for the Art Jewelry Elements Component of the month reveal but doesn't it match perfectly?

Now be sure to hop over to see what everyone else has done but just in case Sandra's power does not come back on be sure to check back with her at a later date (and send her power restoring thoughts)

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Diana for letting me play along!  This is a pleasure and addiction I never ever want a cure for!!!!

Hugs and Blessings
