Official Review - La Bella Joya

It has been so long since doing a tutorial review but this one totally deserves it.  I have waited a very very long time (2 years is too long) to get my hands on one of Marcie's tutorials.  When I first started blogging she was one of those I admired and was totally over the top thrilled when she started following me.  If you do not know Marcie and her blog La Bella Joya let me tell you a bit about what I know about her.  One of the things that draws me to her is her style of beadwork.  She loves seeds but at the same time she mixes it up with metals and gemstones in a way that thoroughly amazes and delights me.  She is also so supportive of anyone starting out and trying to learn all they can about stitches, colors, design and the business aspects of this community.  So many times she given me that push to break out and take chances.  I also loved when she hosted her "Margie and me" challenges.  So often I needed to see colors differently and she gave me that opportunity.

So why did it take so long to review one of her tutorials?  Well I hate to say it but for a while I put so many things in my favorites on ETSY and there was one specific one I wanted first.  I had been collecting the supplies (or so I thought) and waiting.  When the amazing "Showcase 500 - Beaded Jewelry" came out I was so thrilled to see so many of my friends in there.

Well Marcie wanted to celebrate and she had a tutorial sale.  It happened at the perfect time.  I had just made 2 sales of my own and believe it or not that was the tutorial I was off to get that morning she posted!  WIN!!!  What tutorial did I wait so long to get?  La Catedral of course!  Here is what she taught me!

Isn't it awesome.  I just love bangles and although they are hard to work with I also love bugles!  Marcie's tutorial was spot on!  Her diagrams (you know I love me diagrams) are perfect.  Her written instruction leaves no questions as to thread path, tension and those awesome little tips we all like.  And the thing I treasure the most about a good tutorial is that she has me thinkin "What if"!  The hardest part for me what what colors to choose.  I must have sat in the hallway with all the beads looking for just the right combination.  Yes I know that the copper bugles do not really go with the colors I choose but with my limited (meaning just the copper) stash of the bugles required and that I couldn't find just the right color to totally match them I went with it.  I do love a good bangle that you can slip on with no worries in a hurry and well you know I always wear denim so it goes with everything!

Thank you so much Marcie for writing such a terrific tutorial.  It is an honor to present this review!

Oh and if bangles aren't your thing check out my other favorites of hers!

You know I will be savin up for these!!!!

Hugs and Blessings

  1. Hi Kristen,
I love Marcie's tutorials, I have all of these, but the La Rondella Pendant, then I have three more. I love how the bangle came out and your color choice. It is beautiful, just like you!

  4. Rock star bangle friend! It looks like it's so soft and light you wouldn't even know your wearing it (and definitely wouldn't realize if a bead ninja slipped passed you and snuck it off your wrist) Just sayin'

Have a fantastic day and keep on beading!

  5. I can't thank you enough for this beautiful review! It's so difficult sometimes to buy instructions from someone not knowing if they'll work for your needs, but it's so helpful to hear from an objective eye that what you work so hard to put together does indeed work. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! (oh, and e-mail me will ya'? abney_m(at)yahoo.com)
