AJE Component of the Month Reveal

Have I told you how much I love being part of the Art Jewelry Elements team?  At times I do feel as if I am way out of my element but my partners have made it clear that I do have much to offer and that support means so much.  The other aspect I love as part of this team is the creative sparks that each one of these members provides me.  I not only get to use and showcase their amazing creations I am learning so much about the processes involved in making them.  This month our Component of the Month was these gorgeous pendants made by Lesley Watt of Gossiping Goddess.

I have admired Lesley's work for quite a while.  I have only had one experience with metal clay and that was so brief I was left in need to feel it again.  You should know I was not disappointed at all!!!

No most of you have read some not so me posts as of late and I am thanking you right now for hanging in there.  Thanks to some really good friends either reminding me of who I am or really giving me the slap upside the head I deserve I am back.  The only problem with that was that my muse Rhiannon had decided she did not want to stick around for me to complete the other two challenges that I had thought I would be participating in.  However before she left and all that icky drama came into view I had already decided what I wanted to do with this pendant.

Now you are only getting a partial picture because well I didn't get it completed and I need more of my accent beads.  But here is my Glisten.....

I would like to ask you which picture you like better.  Because of the cloudiness as of late I decide to attempt to use the flash again so I am checking to see which one you like better.

Now I would love to direct you to each of the participants as usual but for some reason it will not let me link anymore so please hop over to the AJE page (click link above)

Hugs and Blessings!
Kristen

  1. Kristen that it so pretty! - I love the garland effect you've created with the seed beads, it sets off the snowflake beautifully and has a lovely seasonal feel to it and of course beautiful work as always! Even though the pendant is a little in shadow I prefer the first picture as the definition is better...have you tried tilting the pendant a little to catch the light? Sometimes I just tuck something tiny under an element to change an angle and it can make all the difference. Thank you so much for taking part in the challenge.

  2. Oh! It turned out beautiful! I really like the first pic, even though it's a bit dark, it's easier to see the details of the rope. You did good, my friend!

  3. Hi Kristen,
I love what you did with your snowflake although it is not what I had pictured in my head when you were telling me about it. I like the first photo for the same reasons Lesley and Shirley gave you.

PS I will be happy to slap you up side the head anytime my dear friend if it brings you back to reality. Hugs!

  5. This is beautiful. I too like the garland effect created by the seed beads. The first picture is the best. I just really don't think a flash does anything for jewelry even if it is a bit dark, etc. without it. As for your muse, they can be very difficult to control - well, actually they can't be controlled, so we just waste our emotional time by trying. But, they can be bribed -- offer her some chocolate or pie, or whatever she likes best. Great job on this challenge.

  8. This is beautiful, Kristen. Is it some variation of St. Petersburg weave? I thin if you photoshopped the first picture, it would be fine. I'll copy the pic and try that, so you can see what I mean.

  9. This is beautiful! Great colors! I like the top photo better. We can't get a sunny day here either and I have been having big photograph problems. I hope you are feeling better...physically and mentally. This can be a rough time of year to keep creating and feel good about it. Too much stress.

  10. Another gorgeous piece! If only I had the patience to do that kind of work...but I don't have to because I can just bribe you with beads to do it, lol!

  11. I love it! You have a real talent - your bead weaving is great! Perfect colors, too! I like the top photo better. Can't wait to see it finished!

  12. SO PRETTY PRETTY PRETTY!! I like the top piece better. No flash seems to really capture the piece in its true form - then you can always use photo editing to increase the exposure etc....! xox

  13. It's a golden bough! That branching effect is wonderful... I like that you have chosen a harmonious color scheme to match the bronze. It allows ones attention to go towards the textures of the seed beads, and the work you put in... Lovely!

  17. This reminds me of beautiful holiday twigs wound together in a lovely golden wreath! It couldn't be prettier! I like the top photo best. I think your design comes out clearer with more detail there. --Sharyl
